| Forensic
Science Laboratory Haryana was established at Rohtak in the
year 1973 and later shifted to Madhuban (Karnal) in 1976. It
was established with a motive to provide prompt and dependable
scientific services in the administration of criminal justice
delivery system in the State of Haryana. It comprises of Ten
divisions namely Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Serology, Ballistics,
Documents, Narcotics, DNA, Lie- Detection and General Scene
of Crime Division and two sections- Photo & Information.
Scene of Crime vehicles are stationed at all the Twenty district
headquarters to provide on the spot and comprehensive services
to the Investigating agencies through out the state. |

Services
of the Forensic Science Laboratory, Haryana have also been
utilized from time to time by the central agencies like Central
Bureau of Investigation, Intelligence Bureau, Bureau of Police
Research and Development, Special Protection Group and also
by Punjab, Himachal & Delhi Police.
The Scientists
of the Laboratory have been assisting the training institutes
like National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science,
Delhi, Central Detective Training School, Chandigarh, C.I.D.
Training School, Panchkula and H.P.A., Madhuban. They have
also been invited to deliver lectures on various subjects
of Forensic Science in prestigious institutes like National
Police Academy, Hyderabad, Indian Institute of Public Administration,
New Delhi and Haryana Institute of Public Administration,
Gurgaon.
Apart
from the technical services, the officers of this laboratory
have continued academic pursuits and activities. The officers
of this laboratory also act as examiners for Ph.D. thesis
and M.Sc. examinations in various universities.
Forensic
Science Laboratory, Haryana got accreditation from National
Board of Accreditation for Testing & Calibration Laboratories
(NABL), Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India,
New Delhi for its Quality & Technical competence as per
ISO/IEC-17025 on 27/12/2004. Two Scientists of the laboratory
have successfully completed the Technical Assessors Course
for assessment of quality and technical competence of other
laboratories.
